LOS ANGELES OF THE FUTURE
This map graphically presents the importance of Los Angeles Harbor as a World port. Since 1908 when the harbor lines were established by the War Department., the Government has expended $6,500.000 on development and improvements and the City of Los Angeles has invested $7,000,000. Today Los Angeles Harbor is one of the finest man-made harbors in the World.
From a small haven for passing ships to a port of call for 36 steamship lines touching all parts of the World, and accomplished in a period of ten years is a record to be proud of. The Panama Canal has placed this newly developed harbor on equal footing with all great commercial ports and since the World war the Port of Los Angeles has made rapid strides in linking the resources of the Pacific Southwest with the demands of foreign trade.
To the advertiser this has an important bearing on his market. Trade means wealth and wealth means expansion of market. The wonderful development of Los Angeles the past 10 years has turned the eyes or big business toward a market that is highly profitable to develop. Los Angeles is not only the tenth city in size but the tenth in point of manufacturing. It has graduated from a “tourist” city to a producing center which is destined to attract the attention of foreign trade. With an outlet to the Orient and other ports through its matchless harbor, more development can be expected during the next ten years than during the past twenty years.
Southern California and THE TIMES are inseparable. For 40 years THE TIMES has devoted its best efforts to the upbuilding or this great Empire of the Pacific. It is quite natural then that THE TIMES should stand out not only as the one great news-recognized is clearly shown by the wonderful advertising record of THE TIMES which simply overwhelms its local competitors and places this journal among the leaders in the World.
Showing advertising lineage carried by leading American newspapers for first three months of 1921, complied from New York Post’s statistical reports
